Costume FUN...How PURRfect!

Well, here we are at that time of year again...Halloween! My son is six years old now but really ever since he was three years old, he has decided on his own costume. First it was a Fireman, then a Doctor, and last year he chose a Race Car Driver. And this year, for whatever reason...he wants to be a cat. And not just a cat, but a Brown Cat. I have no idea why, but it is his choice. (My mom seems to have a problem with this and I'm not sure why? Any thoughts?) I think it's cute...He's a quiet, kind, light-hearted, smart and fun little boy! And if he wants to be a Brown Cat...well, that is fine with me!

Do you all let your children choose their own costume for Halloween?

Well, whether you do or not, here are some cute costume ideas for ya.

The cutest little Ladybug. Just buy a black sweatsuit, shoes, headband or hat and then do a little gluing and sewing and...voila, done!

My personal favorite this year is the LEGO boy/girl. This one is just amazing and original. Just get a box and and matching clothes and you have a a pretty cute one folks!!! What's your favorite color?

I think any little girl would LOVE to be a butterfly. Isn't this costume precious? And the best part is you could do this one for a baby, toddler, or little girl.

Okay...this has to be the most creative one yet. My son LOVES cars and he would go bonkers for this one. How cool? There isn't much to it, but hey...I'm not complaining! LOL

How funny is this costume? I got such a kick out of it...I had to post it. The Sushi Roll...LOL. Now this one would get some laughs and turn some heads I'm sure! :)

Well, no matter what your kids decide...it's all about having FUN and being SAFE right?

Well, I'm off to make a cat costume myself. Anyone have any ideas for the cutest kitty on the block? It's simple, but there has to be a way to make it original. Hmmm, I'm thinking "CATS" on Broadway....lots of fur and a painted face....LOL (Naw, just some whiskers, ears, a tail...anything else?)

Meooooow!!! :)

(BTW...You can go to www.familyfun.go.com for more costume fun and directions for all the costumes seen above. They have some fabulous ideas! Enjoy.)

Hi Danielle,
I think a brown cat is adorable!!

My kids can chose their own costumes, but luckily the boys just go up in the attic and pull out the ones that were passed down from my oldest son. This year Oliver is going to be The Tin Man from the Wizard of Oz. My oldest two wore it years ago. Sure does save money!! :)

Can't wait to see pictures of your sons costume.
Have a lovely day
hugs

(I'm doing a $50 giveaway in my boutique, stop by if you get a chance, the drawing is Sunday night!!!)

I have always let Alyssa choose as long as it wasn't too revealing.

Cute costumes and ideas. I love the Lego.

I love the idea of a brown cat!! It's unique and fun.

My guys prefer to stay home and hand out candy. Go figure. They dressed as Doctors one year...not sure about this year?

Can't wait for your cat pictures!

my son is way beyond the cute costume years. You can bet this year's costume will involve his new hamburger hat though :D

Glad to have you back...thanks for your comment. I am so past the costume stage...my kids always picked what they wanted. My youngest is 13 and decided she still wants to go out with some friends this year...they are going to be a sandwich..which I thought was very creative...up to her to make her costume! Happy Weekend!

We always let our kids decide what they were going to be for Halloween within reason. {Within reason meaning if we could afford it!} I have no idea why you'd be getting questioned our whatever about your son wanting to be a brown cat. I'm sure it'll be awesome!

Cute costumes and who doesn't love a brown kitty?!?!?!? My boys decided their costumes today...the 3 year old will be a fireman and the 4 year old wanted to be Batman but since I try to steer them clear of characters he created his own superhero...Super Lava Boy?!?!?!?!

Stopping in from SITS! A brown cat huh? It's pretty funny he has a specific color of cat that he'd like to be. Maybe brown is just his flavor of the month. My son decided he wants to be a Ghostbuster this year. There are no Ghostbuster costumes in stores, so it looks like we'll be shopping online this year!

Okay, confession time... I would plant a suggestion in my girls little heads and work on it until they agreed to be what I wanted. Then, my inner Martha came out and I had to make a costume to end all costumes. If only my daughter hadn't won best costume that one year, I might have relaxed about it! LOL
Go with the brown cat...he'll be a cutie!

That's great that he isn't stuck on all the commercialism of the kids costumes out there. I think a brown cat would be cute. And I love Family Fun, such a creative site and magazine.

I like your blog. Found you on Mom Bloggers Follow Me Group. I'm now following and looking forward to reading more.

how cute are those?!

i was psyched 'cause I found a really nice costume for my toddler at a consignment shop - and I only had to pay pennies on the dollar for it.
