Now, onto what has been on my mind for 3 whole days....
Do you feel old? (I do not mean any disrespect asking this question, really!) But I feel old! I am 37 and have only 1 child, but I STILL feel old! Why is that?
I was thinking about how it feels like just yesterday that I was a young gal of just 20, living in my own apartment, working a full-time job, going to college, had an awesome brand new car, and felt like the world was at my fingertips! (Ahhhh, life was good!)
Oh, don't get me wrong...life is still good! How could it not be with such an amazing little boy at my side? Just looking at his face makes me smile....so life is STILL good, it's just different! (Yeah, I'll go with different.)
I feel like most of you reading this will probably be able to identify with what I am feeling...I mean, I think we all go through times where we lose our own identity or we feel like time is going by twice as fast as we had intended right?
Well....
I went to my son's Kindergarten graduation last Friday and even though I was one of the proudest mommies there, I came home feeling so emotional and crazy....I cried a good part of the day!
I just kept muttering "My baby is in 1st grade" as I walked around the house remembering when he was just born, looking for all the old pictures of him with his binkie, or how cute he looked his 1st Halloween when we dressed him up like a bat! (See what I mean? I'm old! LOL)
I'll be alright! I'm just having a hard time adjusting to the fact that I have a son who is now a 1st grader and on his way to college in the blink of an eye!
Ah, how the years go by so fast....

It's interesting, I've noticed that we all feel that way even though we are still young. The teens think 20's are old. The 20's think 30's are old. The 40's think 50 are old (but getting there)... I think it is our minds that make us feel that way.
From a fellow SITSsta. :D
I know just what you mean! Having a 21yo, *soon to be 22, a 18yo soon to be 19 and a 6yo soon to be 7 in Aug. I watched as my 21 yo walked in on Friday Night, I remember him RUNNING in, weeds as my bouquet for his princess (me) His joy of handing them to me, his brother *toothless following right behind with another one except he got the one with bugs. I always want to cry when I remember those moments. Instead of me comforting them, it's now them comforting me, they hug me, my face against their chests arms about their waists, I squeeze them tight and tell them, why'd you grow up so fast?
Not only do I feel OLD, I feel unwanted LOL. I want them little forever, I used to complain about the hand prints all over my walls, on the door frames, and dishes in their room, I'd DO ANYTHING to have it all back again. =(
I'm still wanted, I'm no longer needed to kiss their boo-boo's or comfort them with a kiss in the middle of the night when they had a bad dream. It's their girlfriends, I can no longer lift the blanket, patting the bed and say com'on cuddle with me.
Caleb is my cuddle muffin now, and the older boys get a little jealous LOL.
I can identify! I'm 42...it feels so strange some days. My boys just turned 7, they are almost little men! Yes, girl I understand just what you are saying :)
The days are long but the years are short...so true for a mom! Your son is a cutie!
And I could have written the first part of your post myself. I'll be turning the same age this summer...Remember when you thought 37 was so old?!?!?!
hi there! I'm stopping by from SITS to say hello. I'll be 34 in August and I feel old too...I can't imagine how old I'll feel if/when I have children :-) So, I know what you mean! Your son is adorable!!! :-)
I have a hard time adjusting to the fact that my twenties are now over and I'm a mom. When did that happen?
I cry over everything now that I have children. I can't believe my first "baby" is 15 , my middle son 12 and how and when did my newborn baby Olly turn 4!!! I don't know what I will do when my oldest goes to college in 3 years. People tell me that I need a life outside of my children, that I can't revolve my life around theirs. but I do have my little design business etc. but none of that compares to being a mother, it is my life. I work out of my house and only take very few projects on now. I mostly write so I can be with them all the time. I'm 43 If I could turn back the clock I would LOVE to have another baby, however you can't go back and that never solves the sadness from knowing the older ones will leave you someday. Ok now I'm crying, see I told you I cry very easily. I'm going to go have a cup of tea with my boys now!! have a beautiful day!!
How weird is this? I was going to write something just like this! We must be cosmically linked! ;-) *sigh* I know adjustment periods are tough, but you'll get through it! We all will! :-)
I know what you mean. My son is now taller than me and has a deep voice, yet it doesn't seem that long ago that we were playing Thomas the Tank Engine together...savor every moment!
You're still young. Enjoy your youth.
Hi, can you please please please post your mango margarita recipe one of these days!!! I love them and don't have a recipe.
Have a lovely evening
Best cure for feeling old is to dance around the kitchen....bet your 1st grader will love it too. Brown Eyed Girl is a great song to dance to!
Aww. No need to cry you look fabulous and with age comes wisdom and a strengthened awareness. I wouldn't go back to my 20's for nothing!Great Post! Stopping by from SITS!
Next thing you know he'll be getting engaged!
Old? YES! Ugh, what happened? It doesn't seem fair at all! ;-)
I don't really ever feel old. Life just keeps getting better and better! However, I think my younger sons have a hand in that youthful feel!
I know! I can get sentimental like that too! Especially w/ my two oldest kids!!
